Carter Concubine
A cruiser-racer from 1977, with a world champion three-quarter tonner in her pedigree, designed by Dick Carter and built by Northshore. She has six to seven berths in a lightweight but well-built interior designed with racing crews in mind. She is very fast for her type and weatherly upwind, but a bit
twitchy on a run. There are quite a few of these boats around and they still make good club racers but are not, perhaps, the ideal family cruiser.
LOA 10m (32ft 9in), LWL 7.89m (25ft l0in), beam 3.38m (11ft 1in), draught 1.82m (6ft), displacement 4,695kg (10,319lb). Price guide: £15,000 to £24,000. YM Test Report October 1978.
