Caprice

Robert Tucker was the master of small boat design in the 1960s. This 19-footer from 1963 proved a
tough family cruiser and she made some remarkable offshore passages. Shane Acton sailed his Caprice, Super Shrimp (Shrimpy), around the world in the late 1970s. The Caprice was much modifi ed
over four incarnations. Mk ls and IIs were plywood, Mk lIls and IVs were GRP with beamier hulls and more headroom. She was built by various yards, with fi n or bilge keels, three or four berths, and masthead or fractional rig options. She is quite long in the tooth, but good examples make excellent little starter boats.
