Baltic 35
Finland’s Baltic yard has now moved out of the medium-sized market to concentrate on building superyachts, but in the seventies and eighties it produced several highquality yachts similar in
character to the Swan range from that other great Finnish builder, Nautor. The company’s smallest offering was the Judel/Vrolijk-designed Baltic 35 from 1985. A high-performance cruiser-racer, the deck and rig gear were designed mainly with full racing crew in mind but she is small enough to be managed by a light family crew as well. Below decks she is sumptuously fitted for extended passage-making with all the usual cruising comforts. Build quality and finish are excellent, and durable. The standard layout included a double cabin at each end although her fine lines mean these are not as spacious as some. The saloon includes a good galley and chart table and the heads compartment is adequate. The standard engine was a small 18hp diesel.
