Bavaria 340

Dating from 1988, this was Bavaria’s first major success in Britain, although she was a very different type of boat to today’s models. More expensive than a Westerly Storm 33, she was a quality product with a strong but light foam-cored hull and a well-crafted interior. This was offered in a Lagoon (owner’s) version with one aftercabin or Caribic (charter) format with two. The wraparound dinette was offset to port and the longitudinal galley was to starboard. She had a wing or fin keel but performance was not particularly sparkling. Deck gear was also a size smaller than the competition.

LOA 32ft 7in (9.95m), LWL 28ft 2in (8.60m), beam 11ft 4in (3.45m), draught 5ft 6in (1.70m), displacement 8,000 lb (4,000kg), Price guide: £30,000 to £45,000. YM Test Report July 1988.
