Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change Ed Miliband says the govenment must get tougher on pushing through controversial wind turbine schemes.

He said opposing such schemes was as ‘socially unacceptable’ as not wearing a seatbelt or failing to stop at a zebra crossing.

More than 7,000 wind turbines are planned for the UK over the next 12 years – half of them offshore.
