Rock sea shanties
Some of the most unforgettable tunes of the 1960s by Crosby, Stills and Nash were written aboard a 59ft yacht. Now veteran rocker David Crosby has put his beloved Mayan,an Alden schooner on the market.
Crosby bought her in 1968,and wrote Wooden Ships and Lee Shore aboard her. He once sailed her from Mexico to Hawaii. The Mayan has also hosted stars like Neil Young and Joni Mitchell and features four luxury cabins. Crosby admits it’ll be tough to let his boat go: ‘She’s just scrumptious.’
He said: ‘After 40 years of sailing my Alden Schooner, and writing many of my best songs aboard her I have reached the point where I must let her go.’
The £1 million wooden vessel was built in 1947 and restored in 2005.
