Readers of this web log will know I am no fan of the ghastly rubber clogs which are marring the aesthetics of sailing these days. But at least these smelly shoes were -on the whole- left onboard the wearer’s vessel.

Now we are to be affronted with something even more revolting: a rubber clog designed to come ashore. It looks as though it has been crossed with the desert boot.

Similar footwear can be seen on the feet of police officers training to deal with the clean up of a dirty bomb detonation.
