Four stopovers for Velux Five Oceans
Clipper Ventures, organisers of the VELUX 5 OCEANS solo, round-the-world yacht race, have announced the route for the 2010-11 edition. It is the eighth race since it was established in 1982.
Following the announcement in October that the city of La Rochelle (France) will host the start and finish, the Race Management say there will be four ocean stopovers:
Cape Town: 7,500 nautical miles from La Rochelle, France to Cape Town, South Africa, starting October 17, 2010.
Wellington: 7,000 nautical miles from Cape Town to Wellington, New Zealand.
Salvador: 7,400 nautical miles from Wellington to Salvador, Brazil.
Charleston: 4,000 nautical miles from Salvador to Charleston, USA.
La Rochelle: 3,600 nautical miles from Charleston to La Rochelle.
