In the early 1970s, this was the definitive tough, miniature offshore cruiser thanks, largely, to the activities of Bob Salmon, who founded the Mini Transat and competed in one of these.



Heavily-built and with a modest rig, she is virtually indestructible and ideal as a family starter boat. The four-berth accommodation layout is interesting, with a rudimentary galley and chart table encircling the keel lifting mechanism.



The cockpit is a good size for day-sailing and the lifting keel means she is at home in shallow waters and on cheaper drying moorings. The keel is partly outside the hull when raised, so she doesn’t dry out level except in soft mud. Performance is average, provided the wind isn’t light.
