Government calls public inquiry
Hazel Blears, the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government has called a public inquiry into Premier Marinas’ plan to transform Swanwick Marina, which they recently bought from Moody.
Premier planned to redevelop the site with a three-storey pavilion, as well as offices, and a retail area and around 50 homes. The yard was to be relocated to the west of the marina.
The Daily Echo reports that a statement from the Government Office for the South East says: “The Secretary of State is of the opinion that the application is one that she ought to decide herself because she considers that the proposals may conflict with national policies on important matters and could have significant effects beyond their immediate locality.”
