'Accidental' verdict recorded for November death
An inquest has heard that a sailor died after falling from a pontoon into very cold water in November.
Michael Holt’s body was found floating in Ocean Village marina in Southampton, close to the Harbour Lights cinema, on the evening of November 15 last year. It was believed he had been walking to the toilets.
His body was discovered the following morning by a passer-by, who with another man was unable to drag Mr Holt’s body out of the water because it was too heavy. Instead he threaded a hose under Mr Holt’s arms to keep him afloat until police officers arrived.
