BFA marine, part of Zodiac International, has identified some overpressure valve failures made due to mis assembly operations on life rafts in use, which may lead to a complete deflation of the compartment when broken. The liferaft models involved are: Atlantic, Pacific, Baltic, and XM/BFA Offshore.

If both overpressure valves of the two independent compartments fail, the life-raft will not be functional anymore and be ‘useless’, the company said.

BFA marine has urged owners to bring back, without delay, their life- raft to the nearest BFA approved service station, in order to check and replace the overpressure valves free of charge.
