The Whyte & Mackay Earls Court Boat Show today announced that Michael Perham, the youngest person ever to sail across the Atlantic, will display and auction his Tide 28 yacht, Cheeky Monkey at the London event this December. Perham and his father Peter are raising funds for Michael’s quest to become the youngest person to sail around the world. Michael needs to raise over a million pounds to buy a larger boat and equipment, put together and run a support team and train to tackle this record at the age of 16.

Michael said, ‘It’s not easy for me to part with Cheeky Monkey. Even though I hate to give her up, it’s a step I must take to enable me to pursue my dream of breaking the age record of sailing around the world.’

Peter Perham, Michael’s father, commented: ‘I am so proud of Michael and what he has already accomplished. Michael’s decision to auction his beloved Cheeky Monkey demonstrates to me how fully committed he is to take on this world record and shatter it by two years.
