Global warming will eventually make Britain one of the most desirable places in the world to live. Millions will head for UK shores and will be accommodated in skyscrapers as other areas of the planet become uninhabitable, boffins say.

Because the UK is surrounded by water it will stay cooler than many other continents and will be able to feed itself.

By contrast much of the US and Asia will become too hot to grow sufficient food, says James Lovelock, one of the first scientists to warn of global warming.
