Part of the south bank of the River Crouch in Essex is to be reclaimed by the North Sea which will save on sea wall construction as sea levels rise.

Farmland of up to 108 hectares at Wallasea Island will be flooded now that ABPmer, Associated British Ports’ marine environment research subsidiary, has secured planning permission.

ABPmer produced studies to demonstrate what the proposed changes to the island’s coastline would look like and how they would effect the surrounding environment.
