Legacy of the U-Boat
The ship’s bell of a wartime wreck: the cross-Channel ferry Prince Leopold has been salvaged by divers.
It will now be returned to the ferry’s home port of Ostend, Belgium after tolling under the sea off the Isle of Wight for the last 60 years.
The ship was torpedoed in 1944 by U-621 during World War II, as she had been converted to an infantry landing ship.
