Navigators and General are again offering racing cover at no extra cost for its policy-holders taking part in The Round the Island Race on June 21
Marine insurers, Navigators and General, as a gesture to yachtsmen, are again offering racing cover at no extra cost for its policy-holders taking part in The Round the Island Race on June 21.
Navigators, who have experience of sailing the event themselves, appreciate that many of the Round the Island competitors do not race regularly throughout the season and therefore do not insure for the extra risks of racing.
In addition to hull cover and third party risks, Navigators are also providing their Racing Risk Extension Clause 2/3 indemnity for rig damage at no extra charge.
Marketing Manager Joe Field explains: “Many of our policyholders look forward to the Round The Island Race each year as it is their only foray into racing. It is a great family event, with top professional sailors competing against the weekend amateurs, but everybody enjoys taking part in such a spectacular race”.
“We want our policyholders to enjoy it with complete peace of mind and that is why we are once again offering this free extension to their annual insurance cover.”
Joe warns that sailors should take particular care at the start, the finish and the beat down to the Needles, which have been accident black spots in past events. He also adds that clients wishing to charter their boats out for the event should check their policy, as such use is often specifically excluded from normal pleasure craft policies.
