The RYA, in response to a marked increase in the number of individuals and companies seeking Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) coding for small commercial vessels, has launched a new inclusive package. The new deal includes free sail number allocation and where appropriate discounted rates on Tonnage Measurement. The combined potential saving on the package is £43 and importantly offers a ‘one stop’ technical service. Ken Kershaw who has been at the forefront in developing the range of RYA technical services commented, “We are trying to put together all our services to avoid the potential for duplication that exists in the market place at the moment. We are confident that this deal will offer the best value in the UK market place.” In the future, the RYA will be looking at ways to include the requirements coming from the European Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) into these technical service packages.
