The Atlantic Row team, sponsored by Pete Goss and supported by Condor Ferries, are due to leave Greve de Lecq, Jersey, tonight, in an attempt to row to Poole and set a new record.

Never attempted before, the rowers aim to complete the English Channel crossing in under 24 hours. They will be accompanied by a safety boat as they first navigate the Alderney Race and then the busy shipping lanes, before arriving at Poole at about 1700 tomorrow.

Tonight’s crossing plans to be the first of a series of rows before the team attempts to break the transatlantic rowing record from Newfoundland to the Isles of Scilly in a boat designed by Adrian Thompson, next June.
