£8million drug haul found on board
A catamaran has been busted by armed police between Morocco and Spain and found with £8m worth of cannabis on board.
Three Britons face extradition to Spain over the 2.8 tonnes discovery.
The Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) said the boat, Cariro 2, had been chartered by a British organised crime group base in Malaga.
The men – two from St Leonards-on-Sea, Sussex and one from Oxshott, Surrey – were arrested under European Arrest Warrants and are due before Westminster magistrates.
During the operation, the crew members were arrested, while additional arrests were made in Marbella.
It believed the drugs haul comprised 2.71 tonnes of cannabis resin and 100kg of high-grade skunk cannabis and was en route to the UK.
