David Barnwell has been appointed as the Honorary Secretary of the Nicholson 31 Association
David Barnwell has been appointed as the Honorary Secretary of the Nicholson 31 Association. David, who sails his Nicholson 31 ‘Scendor’ from Orford in Suffolk, takes over the reins from Allan Trelford.
Allan was instrumental in setting up this Class Association back in 2004, and his tireless work and organisation have helped to re-vitalise the popularity of this boat, now in its 38th year since it was first produced at Camper & Nicholson’s yard in Gosport.
David Barnwell is a retired computer consultant. He and his wife have sailed on the Suffolk coast for many years. Following retirement, they decided to get a larger boat and after some research bought Scendor in the Firth of Clyde. They had a ten-week cruise around the West Coast of Scotland and the Hebrides, through the Caledonian Canal and down the East Coast to Suffolk.
“The Nicholson 31 suits us perfectly,” said David. “We wanted a long-keeler, and she has just the right combination of size, comfort and performance.”
