Three months after taking over from Rod Carr as CEO of the RYA, Sarah Treseder is still being introduced as: ‘The new Rod Carr’, she revealed at a Parliamentary reception for the BMF/RYA last night.
She always knew Carr’s would be big boots to fill, but as MPs wandered in and out of the Terrace Pavilion keeping an eye on the latest score between England and Slovenia in the World Cup, it became clear Sarah was making a statement with footwear of her own.
She was trotting about in brushed nylon Union Jack high heels. ‘England have scored,’ someone shouted.
‘There you are, they’re working!’ beamed Sarah, just before 80 guests gathered for an inspirational talk from quadriplegic sailor Geoff Holt.
As the reception ended, Peter Bottomley MP looked on as Sarah removed her patriotic pumps and wrapped them in a bag.
‘I don’t want to wear them on the train,’ she said before heading off to Paddington and an express to Devon for a meeting at the Royal Dartmouth Yacht Club.
Let’s hope she doesn’t share the same fate as Theresa May MP whose mock leopard skin stilettos made a bigger footprint than her policies.
