Organisers of the London Yacht Show have announced the event at St Katharine Docks has been rescheduled to 2020
The London Yacht Show 2019, which was to focus on the luxury end of the marine market, has been cancelled due to a lack of interest from some segments of the industry and from brands.
Instead, organisers the Maritime Group said it will be focussing on the 2020 edition of the event.
The show was due to go ahead at St Katharine Docks in London on 8-12 May 2019.
The President of the Maritime Group, Andrew Williams, said: ‘Since an initial burst of interest in the London Yacht Show, take-up has slowed from some segments of the industry and from luxury brands. And so, with just over a month to go until the planned launch, overall commitment to the event is not at the level required to deliver a show with the profile, scale and market breadth the industry asked for and deserves in London.
‘Following extensive consultation with key stakeholders, we therefore believe it is in everyone’s interest to postpone the show until next year,’ he continued.
‘We are all now very focused on delivering a great event and experience in 2020, creating a unique experience for visitors and a leading UK showcase for exhibitors within the growing, international yachting, boating and luxury markets,’ added Williams.
Originally known as London On Water Show, the event was rebranded as the London Yacht Show in December 2018.
The Maritime Group said this ‘generated a huge amount of industry interest and excitement, with many of the UK’s largest yachting brands signing up for the show and numerous other luxury stakeholder’s pledging support and commitment.’
Previously, the UK trade association for the marine industry, British Marine announced it was partnering with the Maritime Group on the show.

London Boat Show 2019 cancelled
British Marine has announced that the 2019 London Boat Show will not be going ahead in January
At the time, British Marine CEO, Lesley Robinson, said: ‘This alliance will deepen the show’s ties to the UK yachting and boating industry and enable key partners, from yacht builders and brokers to luxury goods manufacturers, to participate in shaping the development and growth of London Yacht Show in the future.’
As part of its relaunch, London Yacht Show was planning on holding an exclusive VIP event to give guests the opportunity to preview more than 60 yachts and boats which were expected to be on display.
Displays of super cars and bikers were also billed for the event, along with marquees featuring luxury yachting and lifestyle products.
The London Boat Show, organised by British Marine, was cancelled for 2019 due to insufficient support from the marine industry.
The show, which changed from a 10-day to a five-day format in 2018, used to be held at ExCeL London.
