Freedom 35
In the late 19805, Pedrick Yacht Designs
produced this up-to-the-minute fast
cruising hull and topped itwith an unstayed
mast, fully battened main, and jib. The
forestaywas untensioned. The jib luff
was supported by a sprung-steel batten.
The six berth accommodation was
largely conventional but well put
together and finished. She was fast
and, with herself-tacking jib, as easy
to sail as her predecessor.
Unfortunately she was also
expensive and, by the time of her
introduction, the gloss had gone
off the unstayed rig principle.
