Freedom 33/35
The archetypal, and most popular of the breed, she originally
appeared as the Freedom 33. But, by the time she arrived in
Britain she had grown a bowsprit and was called the 35. The
hull, with its full bow sections and wide transom, was spacious.
The offsetcompanionway, forced by the location ofthe mizzen
mast, created an unusual but successful interior with a double
cabin forward and twin-bunked after cabin. The large heads was
forward opposite the chart table. The galley was along the
starboard side. The keelbolt, though intrusive was well used.
Construction standards were high and she makes a
comfortable cruiser. Performance off the wind is reasonable but
much skill is needed to getherto sail well to windward.
