Cornish Yawl
This was Roger Dongray’s 1989 successor to the Cornish Crabber and is a much more competent cruiser if, perhaps, not quite so quaintly appealing. She has since been replaced by the new-style Crabber (see above). She has a ‘proper’ cabin with 1.7m (5ft 10in) headroom and a practical interior layout with three or five berths. The cutter yawl rig means plenty of ropes for all the family, yet she can easily be sailed singlehanded. The mizzen is largely decorative except in heavy weather, when it can balance a working jib. The keel has an electric lifting motor. Construction is simple but strong and neat.
