Sail up the world's greatest river - like these cruising yachtsmen
The June issue of YM includes a report on The Rally You’ve Never Heard Of.
Miles Kendall went to the mouth of the Amazon to meet up with the 35 yachts of the Ile du Soleil – a rally that takes in the Canaries, Senegal, Cape Verdes, Salvador and the Brazilian coast before spending six weeks exploring the Amazon.
It’s a very different way to cross the Atlantic and the British crews on the rally had great praise for the French-run event.
Don’t miss the June issue to learn more about this unique cruise, now in it’s 14th year.
See video and photos taken cruising past Amazonian villages on the French language blog of Mowgli – an aluminium catamaran sailed by a young French family.
See stunning images taken by Pedro Campos, a professional Brazilian photographer who has accompanied the rally on its Amazonian leg.
