Purr-fect timing

If the sight of Ben Ainslie makes you feel estranged from the Olympics, makes you feel that your stamina would falter under the switch from bacon and egg to a regime of high protein drinks, and that your competitive soul is trapped in a carcass which bears more resemblance to a boiled egg than the famous ‘condom full of walnuts,’ then I have some good news.

You still have the chance to sail in an Olympics if you want to raise money for cats, as one of the official charity partners of the British Olympics Association’s Gold Challenge fundraiser, Cats Protection is calling on all sailing fans to register and raise vital funds for the UK’s unwanted cats and kittens.

Fundraisers can complete the Gold Challenge by sailing, rowing or canoeing their way through their chosen distance – either 20.12km, 201.2km or (for the adventurous or those as part of a team) 2012km.

Natasha Hodges, Cats Protection’s Challenge Events Administrator, said: “Team GB will be giving it their all at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics – if that inspires you, then get involved in the Gold Challenge for us. Your efforts will enable us to improve the lives of many more unwanted cats and kittens across the UK. Registration is now open, so let the challenge begin!”
