The Bavaria Bank
The crash of sterling has raised the spectre of the Weimar Republic when Germans are supposed to have carried banknotes in wheelbarrows to the bakers for a loaf of bread.
With others saying it’s now only a question of time before the Bank of England starts printing money a strange thing is happening: people are rushing out and buying boats.
At least two manufacturers told me at the London Boat Show, which ended on Sunday, that folks are taking their money out of banks they do not trust and from savings accounts which are bearing no interest and buying a boat.
If this continues it will prove a perverse way of kick-starting the marine industry.
