2,900 miles in 99 days
Remember Roz Savage? At approximately 2100 Hours GMT on Monday she arrived in Hawaii having successfully rowed 2,900 miles single handed across the Pacific Ocean from San Francisco.
Accompanied by a large flotilla of boats, Roz, 40, originally from Cheshire, rowed up to Waikiki Yacht Club and stepped out of her tiny 24ft long ocean rowing boat, on to dry land for the first time in 99 days.
An elated Roz comments from the dockside in Hawaii: “If I was any happier I’d burst. It’s been a huge challenge with its fair share of problems, but I’ve made it and I’m grateful to the ocean for allowing me safely across,” Roz said. “It’s been worth every single one of the million or so strokes of my oars.”
