Yachting Monthly visit Boot 16 in Düsseldorf, Europe’s largest boat show, to see the new Azuree 33C
Azuree 33C
Turkish builder Azuree have launched their new and colourful 33C, the ‘C’ stands for cruising. Although with twin rudders, beam extended aft and hull chines the exterior might give a mixed message. Her hull colour and loud graphics might not suit all tastes, but once past the twin bright red wheels and in the V-shaped cockpit everything colour-wise starts to tone down, but the imaginative thinking doesn’t. The cockpit table pops up from the cockpit sole by pulling a line led into the hull-depth cockpit locker to starboard. The seats forward of the wheels don’t have backrests as the coaming is low to make sitting on it when heeled more comfortable. Forward again the coaming is a normal height and offers good back support. The jib sheets are led from the track on top of the coachroof to ST40 winches by the companionway.
Down below things continue to be interesting, the removable forward bulkhead (with door) is an option – a ring bulkhead takes the loads if you choose the curtains or to do away with it completely. Either side aft of the V-berth are seats, although these spaces can be used for different cupboard/shelved modules. As options. The saloon has bench seating down each side, aft of which is another modular space. There are space for two ‘units’ which could be a double unit to extend galley work surface and stowage, or any combination of their single units which are a plain seat, a seat which raises to be a chart table, two more storage options or a single galley unit with built-in coffee machine. No longer are you constrained by what a designer thinks you want in your boat you can choose for yourself. Also because these are totally removable they could be changed around or removed at will – by just removing 4 bolts. If you cruise with your family you may want more storage and luxury than if there’s a group of you going for a cross-channel thrash, but she can satisfy both needs.
Aft of this area is the heads which with it’s GRP finish is easy to wipe clean. The L-shaped galley is lacking a bit on workspace, but this can be addressed with the extra modules depending on what you think – My opinion my differ from yours. And there’s a decent sized double in the cabin aft too.
