Gipsy Moth III will be at the start of The Faraday Mill OSTAR 2005
Roland Machin, the current owner of Gipsy Moth III, has announced his intention to bring this famous yacht to Plymouth for the start of The Faraday Mill OSTAR 2005.
Gipsy Moth III was sailed to victory by Sir Francis Chichester in the first OSTAR in 1960 when the voyage took forty days.
It is anticipated that Giles Chichester MEP (son of Sir Francis) will be aboard Gipsy Moth to celebrate the start of the 12th edition of this famous race from Plymouth to Newport Rhode Island on the 29th May 2005.
The race is organised by The Royal Western Yacht Club and there are currently 42 entries from 7 countries.
