Somali pirates get cash air drop
Somali pirates have received a £2.2 million ransom parachuted to them in cash for releasing a Ukrainian ship laden with arms and tanks.
They hi-jacked the ship, MV Faina, five months ago. She will now be escorted to Mombassa in Kenya.
In last year’s November issue of YM we told the story of the rescue of a French cruising couple whose Amel Super Maramu had been hi-jacked by Somali pirates. They were held to ransom for £800,000 , but rescued in a daring raid by French commandos.
