Frank Dye: Wayfarer legend
Small boat voyager Frank Dye has died. His feats of sailing his 16ft wooden Wayfarer W48 on trips to Iceland and Norway from the UK made him world famous.
His first book Ocean-Crossing Wayfarer told of his 650 passage from Scotland to Iceland in 1963.
With his wife Margaret, he made many more exciting passages some of which they documented in their book Sailing to the Edge of Fear.
Their boat is on display at the National Maritime Museum in Falmouth, Cornwall.
