'Thrilling events and attractions' promised
Jersey Boat Show organisers are promising ‘a hectic schedule of thrilling events and attractions’ for Channel Islanders to enjoy over May Day Bank Holiday weekend.
Bavaria and Bénéteau are among the exhibitors from April 30 to May 2, alongside a 79-metre River Class offshore patrol vessel, HMS Severn, the States tug, Duke of Normandy, HMS Raider and Fleur De Lampaul (pictured), a historic French sailing vessel, which will all be viewable from 1000 to 1400 daily.
The show’s main stage is on the New North Quay, past the Maritime Museum, where the opening ceremoney will take place at 1200 on Saturday, with the marina’s pontoons housing more than 100 traders.
On Saturday night the silent film, Around Cape Horn, will be broadcast on the deck of Duke of Normandy, accompanied by the cellist Gerard Le Feuvre, and followed by a fireworks display at 2110.
Commercial director for the Port of Jersey, Myra Shacklady, said: ‘Last year around 30,000 visitors enjoyed the Show and I hope they enjoy it again as much this year. We have been working hard to ensure that the 2011 event is better than any year that has gone before.’
