A leading pop star raised £4,000 with a gig in support of volunteer coastguards.

Billy Bragg spent two hours going through his repertoire as 400 fans at Freshwater Beach in Dorset cheered on.

The gig was in aid of The Lyme Bay National Coastwatch Institution and afterwards Bragg said: ‘The NCI station serve the community and thousands of holidaymakers who face challenges with Chesil Beach’s unfamiliar shelves and tides.’
