Guy Waites crosses Atlantic on second attempt
More than a year after originally leaving Plymouth, a Contessa 26 has completed the Jester Challenge, the singlehanded transatlantic event for yachts under 30 foot.
A cracked bulkhead forced Guy Waites to abandon his voyage to Newport, USA last June and nurse his boat back to the UK, but it did stop him making another attempt this year aboard Red Admiral.
This time he successfully made it to Newport in 43 days, arriving in the Rhode Island port last Friday.
