New book has chilling warning
A sobering statistic has been revealed in a new book about the dying oceans: namely that UK fishermen caught more than twice as much cod, haddock and plaice in the 1880s – under sail – than they do today in power ships equipped with electronic sonar fish finders.
Overfishing along with global warming and pollution are threatening to transform the ocean, which according to author Callum Roberts could lead to mass extinction of species.
