Captain William Bligh's mutiny relics for auction
Captain William Bligh’s mutiny survival kit is to be auctioned at Christie’s in London on 26th of September and is expected to fetch over 200,000 pounds sterling.
The objects include a coconut he ate his food from, a beaker, a crude home-made compass and a weight used for measuring food.
The relics are owned by a New Zealand couple descended from Bligh. The Naval captain navigated a launch across more than 3,600 miles of the Pacific Ocean to Timor after his crew aboard the Bounty mutined and set him adrift near Tahiti.
