Event to celebrate life on Cornish river
The dates for this year’s Fal River Festival have been announced, with organisers promising an even greater spectacle than last year.
The festival will run from Friday, May 28 to Sunday, June 6, celebrating life on and around the river.
The Fal Fish Festival will again be the centrepiece event on May 30 and 31, presented by chef James Martin and featuring cooking demonstrations from Rick Stein and 2008 Masterchef winner James Nathan.
Festival director, Toby Budd, said: ‘The Fal River Festival has become a key date on the Cornish calendar and strives to represent all aspects of life on the Fal.
‘This year’s event calendar is starting to look very promising and we’re still searching for new dynamic events and activities to add to the diary.
‘We’re really excited to have the support of Rick Stein for the Fal Fish Festival and it’s also great to announce that the extremely popular Fal River Walk and Fal River Swim will be taking place once again.’
Last year over the nine days 30,000 people participated in 130 events, covering culture, music, arts, food, literature, drama, industry, events, gardens, sports and history.
Festival Chairman, Tim Light, said: ‘The plans for this year’s festival are starting to come together, with sponsors approaching us and event ideas coming to light.
‘Our focus is on encouraging people to come forward with their event proposals and ensuring Fal River Festival is a success once again.’
