Popular 1980’s singer Simon Le Bon is to sail his boat Drum in this year’s Fastnet Race – the same race and the same boat in which he nearly drowned in 1985.

The boat capsized off Falmouth after the keel fell off and Le Bon and his crew had a lucky escape.

The 608 mile race starts from Cowes on 7 August when around 250 boats will competefor the trophy.
