New owners assure customers business as usual
Raymarine has sought to assure customers that they will not be affected by the company’s recent takeover.
On Friday thermal-imaging firm FLIR Systems reached a deal to purchase the debt-stricken marine electronics manufacturer in a $180m (£124m) deal.
FLIR has said that it has bought the entire trading business of Raymarine and will continue to operate it as normal, including preserving the jobs of Raymarine’s 400 employees.
Raymarine and FLIR have no competing products, so no changes are expected to be made to Raymarine’s product line with thermal-imaging technology to be incorporating into its display, radar and autopilot instruments.
Andy King, Raymarine’s director of sales and marketing, said: ‘This has tremendous possibilities for Raymarine, our distribution network and our customers, particularly as thermal imaging, with the ability to see clearly at night, will become more important to the leisure boater.
‘It’s very exciting news and we welcome this next step in the story of the Raymarine brand and product.’
