A celebration dinner was held in honour of Gipsy Moth IV’s homecoming on Monday at the Royal Western Yacht Club, Plymouth. Guests included the son of Sir Francis Chichester, Giles, with his wife Ginnie and son Charlie.

The Chairman of the Isle of Wight Council, Roger Mazillius, announced a reunion for all the crew who had taken part in the circumnavigation. It is to be held during Cowes Week. He said he was looking forward to Gipsy Moth returning to her new home in Cowes ,where he hoped she would long continue to be ‘a living boat doing what she does best – taking young people sailing’.

During the evening an auction raised £955 for Gipsy Moth.
