Gipsy Moth IV is back in the limelight
Gipsy Moth IV is the first yacht to arrive at Earls Court, for the boat show 1-9 December – the journey up from Gosport being slightly shorter than the voyage that made her famous!
The Gipsy Moth IV made maritime history in 1966-67 when Sir Francis Chichester achieved the fastest solo circumnavigation in a small vessel, sailing from Plymouth to Sydney and back via Cape Horn in just 274 days.
She made a second circumnavigation after being restored following a campaign by Yachting Monthly to save her from rotting away at Greenwich.
Yachting Monthly editor Paul Gelder will be signing copies of his exclusive book, Gipsy Moth IV: A legend sails again, at the show.
