61-year-old woman 'critical' after being pushed off sea wall
A holidaymaker is critically ill with head injuries after being pushed off a sea wall on the Isle of Wight. The 61-year-old woman fell 12ft (3.6m) on to concrete steps when she was pushed from a wall at Hope Beach, near Sandown, on Saturday evening.
She was taken to the island’s St Mary’s Hospital then transferred by helicopter to the neurological unit at Southampton General Hospital.
A boy aged 17, from Shanklin, Isle of Wight, has been arrested, and Hampshire police are appealing for any witnesses who were on the beach between about 1700 BST and 1900 BST on Saturday to contact them.
