Sailor Lyn Withall had to break up ice floes to get her yacht docked in time for the London Boat Show.

Lyn, who is helping out with the ybw.com site at the Earl’s Court Show sailed from her home in Dover with partner Andrew Bebbington, a Canterbury University researcher.

The couple docked their Bruce Roberts 38 ft centreboard sloop at Surrey Quays, but had to smash their way into the berth through solid ice.

Lyn, an accountant, said :’ It was a cold passage all the way round – we had ice on deck every day which did not thaw out until midday.’
