Jersey Harbour Master Howard Le Cornu has issued a warning to fishermen not to dump their old tackle at sea.

The warning follows several sea rescue of yachtsmen whose boats have fouled old nets.

In one of the worst incidents the St Helier lifeboat had to tow the motor-boat Claire Louise back to port after both her props became entangled in old fishing nets.
