After almost 8 days and 900 miles of sailing under jury rig Mike Golding and ECOVER 3 arrived in Fremantle in the early hours of Christmas morning. However, this is not the Christmas present that Mike was after: “I was not expecting to be here at all” he commented yesterday afternoon. “In all honesty I would rather be racing in the Southern Ocean or at least at home with my family. So no offence to the people of Fremantle, but this is not going to rate as one of my best Christmas’!!”
It is expected that on Boxing Day, Mike and the team will will be discussing the logistics of how best to get ECOVER 3 back to UK waters. Once this is all organised Mike will then return home to be reunited with his wife and young son.
