A corpse was found floating in the Firth of Forth yesterday, Sunday 5 August. A sailor spotted the body in waters off Hawkcraig Point near Burntisland on Sunday. Kinghorn Lifeboat crew recovered the remains but were unable to tell the person’s gender as it appeared they had been in the water for some time.

Fife Police are checking local and national missing persons registers in an effort to identify the body. A post mortem examination is due to take place today.
