For services to sport
Peter Bartlett, past Chairman of the RYA South West Regional Committee, has been recognised for his services to sport in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2009 published at the weekend (Saturday 13th June).
The list recognises outstanding achievement and service across the whole of the UK and more than 70 per cent of this year’s awards have gone to ordinary people, local heroes from a range of fields, who have made a real difference to life in their communities.
As past Commodore of Brixham Yacht Club, a keen supporter of youth sailing, and a stalwart member of the RYA’s South West Committee as Chairman and more recently Hon Secretary, Peter has given an immense amount of his time and effort to the sport.
Rod Carr, Chief Executive of the RYA sent his congratulations; “Peter has worked extremely hard in Brixham and the South West region, making the sport as accessible as possible to people in the community. Being named in the Queen’s Birthday Honours is an excellent tribute to his work.”
